files found on our web and FTP site: Going to the FTP site
will allow you to download any file you wish. (Should you see a warning when you access the FTP
site, you may proceed to download any files you wish by virtue of the
invitation this page offers -- you may consider your downloading to be
proper use of the FTP site and to represent official business.) The
other selections in
the
above links list will run software that displays the information
in
a browser window. For *.PDF files an Adobe Acrobat Reader will be
required (Portable Document Format®, see http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep.html
); *.PPT files will require Microsoft PowerPoint®; *.ZIP files
will require unzipping (see http://www.pkware.com/,
http://www.winzip.com/, or http://www.7-zip.org/, for example;
there are others available on the web) in order to
extract the bitmapped files in *.PNG format (Portable Network Graphics
format, see http://www.libpng.org/pub/png/
), other common formats may be used in addition; the ZIP
files may also contain the native format files from the software used
in their creation. (Note, going to these sites will take you out of
NIST web space.)
